Our first trip to emergency and other pregnancy related topics...

Well, 24 weeks is where we're at. We finally had our first real scare last night. The post in blue may have TMI, so if your queezy don't read... just scroll down to the black lettering

~~~~~~~~~~
Last night we had garlic bread with our dinner, it gave me the worst upset stomache ever. I tried to goto the washroom a few times to help the pain and discomfort leave but it wouldn't. At 11:45pm I had gone to the washroom and wiped and there was blood. I FREAKED OUT! Dave had just finished asking if I was okay because I was in a lot of discomfort and that's when I noticed the dripping blood. I wasn't sure which area it was coming from, but it was a pretty good flow.
So we tried paiging the midwives and I didn't hear back so we went to the first emergency room that we knew would be open. (which isn't the hospital we are supossed to go too, we're actually supossed to goto a different hospital because we're with midwives and not an OBGYN; but we weren't thinking about delivering the baby we just wanted to get somewhere that there was help).
I was crying and shaking, but they got me right in, the HB was fine and I did a urine test and that was fine. Then we had to wait until the midwife on call would give permission for the OBGYN to do an exam , which we got but the Dr was delivering a baby. But come 2am he finally came into the room. The baby had been moving and kicking, obviously ablivious to what daddy and I were going through. He used the speculum (sp), which I HATE and now that I'm pregnant it hurts a little more when they use it because everything is so sensative. But he said everything with the baby seemed fine although I did have a 'fisher'.
A fisher... a tear in the anus that happens because all the tissues on a womans body becomes more sensative ect. So now I have cream and stuff, but at least the baby is fine. I've never been more relieved in my life. It was so scary seeing that blood. Everyone was excellent at the hospital, and the midwife called today and she was nice as well.
Although I did notice the 'politics' more with the difference between the midwives and hospital staff. Least I know the proceedure for next time. The paige I made to the midwives didn't even go through - she never rec'd it so I dunno what happened there, but I think we did the right thing and went to the closest hospital... even though the 'politics' gave me a guilty feeling. I was advised to go straight to the other hospital the next time (that's where the midwives 'work' out of). I also have a mast list of paiger numbers for all the midwives but I didn't have it handy, but I'll be sure to put it somwehere accessible now. What a night! Glad the Wee One is okay though! Phew!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have been having a hard time sleeping; I wake up numerous times at night, not just to pee but tossing and turning so I'm going to have to check into that. I have also had severe heart burn, so I'll have to look into that as well.

Back to the prenatal class tuesday, we had homework which we haven't done yet, I'll do it tomorrow. David and I have to watch count how many times each of us breaths in a minute when we don't know the other person is counting hehe. I'll do it tomorrow after work.

I'm getting together with the girls on wednesday to go look at some baby shower invites, but I think we may end up making them. I always like homemade things better. The Dollar Giant has some great scrap booking items that we can incorperate, so I'm excited about that. But we're gunna compare pricing and such.

Well that's about it for now.

TTYL
XOXO
