Well I start MAT leave on thursday. We've taken our BF class... I have learned how to properly sterlize all the baby dishes/bottles and pump, so I'll be working on that and washing all the clothing I got for the showers. It took 2 1/2 hrs to write the thankyou cards for the baby showers, now I just have to get them all delivered!
My sugar level is still all wonky, even with this diet. Tomorrow I go and get a glucometer and learn how to use it. I hope that will help me keep things under control.
The Wee One is getting big, keeping me up with movements until late late late, can't wait until MAT leave so I don't have to get up early. I can't wait to finally hold my baby and we lay eyes on one another for the first time. I know I'm going to fall in love even more. Everyone around us is getting excited and can't wait to meet him/her.
That's it for now, I hope you're all doing well, will catch up on your blogs momentarily.

Baby Showers!

Thought I would post my post from facebook as a quick update for now...

What a weekend! We waited a long time for the time that we'd have our own baby showers and this weekend was it! Friday night was the Man Shower, all the guys got together brought some diapers and played some poker, $5 a game. I hear it was a lot of fun! I do know that there were some still up until 7am lol. Poor Dave came home and we had him running running for the Ladies Baby Shower(poor guy hehe).
The laides shower was fabulous!! Sooo many people showed up to celebrate our blessing with us. The games were a lot of fun, the diapers with the different chocolate bars - it was funny watching the ladies sniffing the diapers, and the diapers looked so gross hehe. The toilet paper roll... to measure my tummy... that was just funny. There were many other games as well. We served some really yummy food and the cake was gourgeous (thanx to Sam)!! 3 different flavours, complete with little babies and their umbrella's and rainbows... wow!! We even had a watermellon cut in the shape of a baby carriage - it was a fruit bowl (thanx Brandi), so cute!! I can't wait until I see the pictures! You girls went all out! After all the gifts and diapers we rec'd we have been left just waiting now until the time I give birth to the baby. The Gifts we rec'd were all WONDERFUL, and we are still shocked with how much we rec'd from everyone... we cannot thank everyone enough for sharing this special event with us and for the wonderful gifts for the Wee One.
Dan, thankyou for putting together the Poker Man Shower for David, he had a lot of fun and we got a lot of diapers and baby wipes, our hall closet is FULL. Thanx to all the guys for coming out and joining in on the fun.
Samantha, thankyou for hobbling around in pain all day for us and putting all the effort into making the shower run smoothly. The cake was absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to get some pictures so I can put together a photo album of the day that was full of many great memories. I think everyone had fun with all the games and events of the day. Thanx for keeping yourself busy all week with preparing for hosting the guys party at your house and then the one at the common unit here.
Brandi the food was wonderful, thankyou very much for putting it all together and making it look so pretty and taste so yummy!! I am enjoying the left overs hehe. Thanx for helping with decorating/cleaning up!
Maddy - even though you're not on Facebook I hope your mum sends along my gratitude for all your help. Without you asking what you could do next, it wouldn't have gone as smoothly, we appreciate everything you've done!!
There were others who gave a hand when we were running behind and at the end of the shower with cleanup, thanx to all of you as well.
My shower was better than I would have ever thought it would be. I can't even express the emotions I felt all day and how moved andn loved David and I feel after the last two days. It was the nicest weekend anyone could have ever given us, we are so happy to have such great friends and family around us during such a joyous time in our lives. The day was very special and I truly appreciate everything from the bottom of my heart. I can't wait until the next step, which is bringing The Wee One into the world. Now that I'm all teary eyed again (Yes Sam I cry a lot LOL, I have every right after such a wonderful weekend hehehe, plus hormones hehe). Some people wanted to know how many bibs, wash cloths and diapers we rec'd... here's the stats LOL...
Baby Wash Cloths - 30
Baby Bibs - 29
Diapers - 788 (LOL, yes we used a calculator for that one hehe).

Off I go for now...

crappy! But not all crappy!

So I'm a little upset lately, depressed almost. I was doing well until this last Wednesday. We found out that my mothers test results (CAT scan) came back bad. She's been fighting cancer for I think about 5 years now, she's had 3 surgeries to try and remove it... it just keeps coming back. The apointment before the last one the Dr said he may not be able to remove the cancer on the left side due to the scar tissue from her previous surgeries. She's had ribs removed, mesh put into her chest to keep everything in place and had to have a metal post put in her back as the last serious operation she had they had to scrape a couple of her discs.
This last scan was to check how big the spots were getting, and we found out that they've multiplied and the cancer has moved into her blood system. They don't know how long she has, could be 3 months, could be upto 2 yrs... the doctor told her she would be able to enjoy the birth of her grandchild (The Wee One), and they'd do another scan afterwards to find out how far its moved. The cancer could pop up anywhere at anytime, it could lie dormant for a little while then all of a sudden spike up. Apparently the spots they've found are marble size now. The only way to treat it would be to remove it, which is no longer an option due to the fact it's become part of her blood system...
We knew it would eventually come to this, of course we had always hoped they would remove it all and it wouldn't come back but of course that's no longer the case. My baby only has a grandmother for we don't even know how long... David's mum passed away a year and a half ago from cancer, and now my mother will be as well. At least she'll be here for the birth and the beginning, I hope the cancer moves slow, but when the time comes and it's hard for her that it takes her quickly.
I feel really sad knowing I have limited time left with my mom, I have so much to learn from her about raising my own child. I get so pi$$ed off that it took so long to finally get pregnant... at least she'll be here for the birth.

I've been feeling okay other than the above story. The baby is getting bigger and when it gets the hickups its rather funny - my entire belly moves hehe. It happened at work last week and everyone thought it was really cool.
Taking the 3D U/S was cool, it was good to see the baby looks healthy. It was nice to the his/her little smiles :), after s/he finally moved it's little arms.
I find out the new diet regime and such on thursday. Hopefully they can explain things a little better for me too.

We may be moving into Dqavid's fathers old house... we find out in two weeks. They're building a new one due to his needs from the accident. Everything needs to be accesible (he was paralized waste down ina trucking accident just over a year ago). So they're checking to see if they can get a second mortgage and we'll rent out the original house until our credit is good enough to purchase it. David has already told me that mum would move in with us so we can help her through what she's going to be going through. I really hope we get the house, please keep us in your prayer and wishes that they get a second mortgage.

I think that's all that's new for now, take care ladies!
